Life is constantly changing and
priorities change overtime; therefore you should put into consideration that the
right balance for you today may not be the right balance for you next week or
even next month. The most important
thing is that you just have to feel accomplished and enjoy happiness every
time.
Define what a balanced life means to you.
It is very crucial to know what a balanced life means to
you. A balanced life doesn’t mean that
you have to spend the same number of hours on work as you do on your personal
activities; as that is not realistic in most cases. Literally make sure that you create time to
focus on internal and external life.
Create Boundaries: Create
boundaries in your life and know to what extent you can go concerning your
work, health, family etc. Set limits
because you cannot spend all your time having fun or working while neglecting your
family or health and vice versa. I truly believe that your accomplishments
aren't dependent on how much time you spend in the office.
Learn to Say "No": In
most cases we find it hard to say “NO” to our families, boss, kids, parents,
spouses, friends e.t.c but at times it is necessary to do this once in a while
to be able to achieve balance.
You must learn that sometimes you have
to choose your family, your health or even your social life over work. At the
same time, you'll also have to make some hard decisions to put work first.
We cannot possibly do everything that
we want to do and everything that everyone else wants us to do. Because that
will mean that you are stretching yourself out too much. So a big part of leading a more balanced life
is to cut down on unnecessary tasks and protect your priorities.
Understand and accept that you are not a superhero:
Just be realistic and understand that some are just not
going to get done; and, you have to be okay with that. You just
need to set priorities and do the rest afterwards. Having a balanced life means being realistic.
We at times find ourselves having a lot
of work and that need so much time to complete.
Don’t tire all your time on it for re-prioritizing one of them as you
can spend more time so you can spend time with your family, having fun or even
focusing on your health.
Set your priorities right and know
which task needs more urgency and the one that can wait. Don’t strain yourself too much, life is simple
don’t complicate it.
