Are you the kind of person who expects the worst so that you wont be disappointed when it happens? Expecting failure and betrayal,
seeing downsides where others don't, even seeing positives as negatives; all these is bad mentality but you can overcome it little by little using the below tactics.
1. Think twice before you Act or Talk
Look
at problems logically. Don’t let your
emotion take over, you may do or say things that you might regret later. Before you act, think of the consequences
first. When someone provokes you and you
feel that you might answer in a bad way, then learn to hold your tongue. I know there are people who think that
keeping quiet or restraining from acting is a sign of being a coward, but that
is not true; it actually shows a positive side in you.
2. Be easy on yourself
It is easy to feel bad if your ego is hurt. If you do not give too much attention to your
ego and are able to laugh at yourself; you can turn embarrassing moments into
opportunities for giving joy to yourself and others.
3. Help Someone
There
are people who don’t like doing anything for free, you believe that for you to
help someone you must be paid for it. Take
the focus away from you and do something nice for another person. It is so
fulfilling and it makes you feel better.
4. Meditate or Exercise
It
helps you relax and brings you to the present moment. It drives your focus away from your thoughts
and brings your attention to your breath.
5. No one is perfect, so let yourself move
forward
We all
make mistakes so don’t dwell on your mistakes.
I know you will feel terrible after doing a mistake but don’t dwell
there, learn from your mistakes and move on.
6. Smile
I know
you are asking yourself how smile can overcome negative thoughts; this is how
it happens, smile makes you feel lighter and it helps change your mood and
relieve stress.
7. Try and be around positive people
It is
true that if all the time you are around positive people who are optimistic
then I tell you your mindset will eventually change and you will start seeing
things in a different perspective.
8. Do not play the victim all the time, You
create your life so take responsibility
Are
you the kind of person who keeps on blaming other people for your mistakes?
Stop that and know that you have a role to play in order to shape your
life.
9. Do not Concentrate on what other people say
or think about you
By
bothering about what other people think or say about you, may end up forcing
you to try pleasing them. It is hard to
please other people and you will end up being frustrated and with low self
esteem.
10. List things that you are grateful for
Be
Grateful in what you have today. Learn
to utilize what you have in your hands and make use of it in the most
constructive way.
It
doesn't matter what your circumstances are at the present moment. Think
positively, expect only favorable results and situations, and circumstances
will change accordingly. Being grateful
helps appreciate what you already have.
11. Use Positive Words in your Inner dialogue
Your
inner dialogues are very important because if you can change them to be
positive then am sure you will learn to also use positive words when talking
with others. Always use the right words
when talking to people. The words you use on a daily basis have a major impact on
your attitude and moods.
12. Keep your sense of humor
Laugh at and with yourself when
possible. It will entertain you and your mind will be clearer.
13. Avoid everything that can affect you badly
Do
your friends put you in a bad mood all the time or do they hurt you without
minding of your feelings? If the answer is “Yes” then avoid them because they
are ruining your life.
14. You always Have Choices
Learn
to have alternatives in case your first option doesn’t work out. For example if your family is negative, you
can choose to live away from them or at least see them less often. If your
friends are negative, you can simply refuse to be with them. This will
definitely be beneficial because then nobody will reinforce your negative
beliefs and thus cause your negative attitude.
15. Sing
Are
you a terrible singer? It actually doesn’t matter, it is even better that way
because you will have a chance to laugh at yourself for the terrible voice and
that releases stress. When we sing, we
show our feelings and this provides an amazing stress relief.
16. Read Some Positive Quotes
Reading positive quotes can be quite inspiring and
this will help boost your mood.
Don’t dwell on negative predictions so that you can
feel important; the “I told you so” syndrome.
Try out the above tips and you will realize that your mind will start
feeling lighter.
